1/8/11 Weigh In and Measurements
I weighed my waist and it came down to 47 inches, so I lost some fat around my mid-section, which is good to see. My body fat on the scale remained at 34%.

I Haven't Started The Year Out Too Well With My Blogging!
I have been doing well and have noticed that my pants are fitting better. I have walked the stairs to my 11th floor office a couple of times this week and have really watched what I have been eating, save this past lunch from which I just returned.
When I weigh myself on Saturday, I should have lost some weight, but I am not sure how many pounds. I have noticed that I am sleeping better and feeling a bit better overall. I have really increased my consumption for fruits and vegetables and have been drinking less diet sodas and other junk foods.

Lunch and Waist Measurement
Since it is New Year's Day, we had some black eyed peas over rice for lunch. We will probably have the same for dinner. I decided to go without diet soda for now and have just been drinking water all day. I will try to drink 10 glasses (1 glass per 25 pounds of weight).
I measured my waist this afternoon and found that my waist (navel to navel) is 48 1/2 inches. I definitely need to work on getting that down.
New Beginning: Sustainable Weight Loss in 2011
In 2011 I am determined to lose my weight and keep it off. I had gotten down to 187 pounds in the Spring of 2010 and promptly put all of my weight back by today. I tipped the scales this morning at 249.6 pounds with a body fat percentage of 34%.
I have decided to take a different tack this time around and focus on body recomposition, as opposed to weight loss. Why? Because I really do not care about my weight. I only care about how I look with the weight. If I could look good and remain the weight I am, would I be happy? Yes. My goal is not really to lose the weight, but to make myself look and feel better.
Granted, I do need to lose weight, since by all measures I am overweight and more susceptible to disease, so I will have a weight goal, but I will keep in mind daily that my real goal is to look and feel better and not necessarily to lose weight. This way, if I do not lose poundage on the scale, but lose inches around my waist and feel much better, then I am more likely to be satisfied and motivated to continue with my transformation from the fatty that I am today.
